Belinda Botzong – Refind Creations
I am just discovering creativity in my every day life. I am inspired by things I find that are rusty, discarded, natural, or textural. I spend my time collecting things outside, in “junk” stores, and from every day life then I “Refind” those things into my own creations to enhance their beauty or function. I am currently working with dried or pressed flowers, leaves, and plants. I am learning to make handmade paper and have been most excited lately about using my scanner as an artistic tool.
I never have a plan until something decides what it is to become and it becomes part of my daily thoughts until I can get it out in whatever way it makes sense. I have used cork, antique insulators, lighting fixtures, pine cone scales, and even rusty tire irons to create unique and beautiful things. I am so happy to be part of the Whatcom Art Guild and to have the opportunity to sell my items at the Whatcom Art Market. I am inspired by nature, creation, and the beauty that surrounds us here in Bellingham.
I work full time in the health care field, I have been married 32 years to my biggest fan, and I have two amazing, creative, and funny adult children who bless my life immeasurably. When I am not creating, I write poetry and I am working on a novel set in the early 20th century Skagit County, where I was born and raised. I am very blessed and thankful to be invited to participate in this community.
