Peggy Sullivan
“I love nothing more than to capture cats in the act of doing what cats do in my artwork.” I envision drawings that I want to illustrate my cat stories, sketching them out with artist’s pencils, creating a story board, then scanning the drawings, and painting them digitally. Each book developed my artistry and furthered my love of color. Midnight and Moonlight had whimsical pen and ink drawings with a splash of color. The Moon and Star took the color up to a new level. Tevye the Magical Theater Cat involved a cast and audience to challenge my people- drawing skills. In Shadow Walkers, I added many fun details. Montana Cats, a Winter’s Tale added challenges with snow scenes and a variety of animals.
All my stories have sweet messages about friendship and diversity, mindfulness, transformation and magic, taking time with quiet people and places and cats, and simply observing nature and enjoying the warmth of home. As a retired mental health therapist, my goal has always been to spread joy and bring happiness to people. My first book, Twelve Secrets of Happily Ever After Couples, gives a love prescription for happiness within committed relationships. Happiness for oneself was the goal of Blissfully Single.
I continue to write about life’s positive journey in my weekly blog, My Happy Place, which can be found at my website: www.peggysullivanbooks.com/blog. I am available for presentations on Finding Happiness, which I’ve given to senior centers, assisted living homes, service clubs and art groups.
I take part in the February Peace Poetry Postcard Project and now have a few of my peace poems available to purchase in my origami peace poetry notecards. I offer eleven different Car Detective activity books for screen-free family fun while on the road.
I’m having fun learning and practicing water color skills with the Whatcom Art Guild’s watercolor focus group. My newest creations are with acrylic paint on tiles, celebrating cats.
