Happy Crow Lucky

My work lives at the intersection of salvage and storytelling. I create sculptural animals, dolls and mixed media pieces using upcycled materials, primarily felted wool clothing, fabric scraps and found objects.  Each piece begins with something discarded and through careful handwork, becomes something expressive and alive with character.  The process is intuitive and tactile, guided as much by the materials themselves as by my own imagination

My animals and figures often have a quirky, slightly off-beat personality.  They lean into humor and I want them to feel like they’ve just wandered in from their own peculiar world.

Alongside my fiber work, I create weather resistant mosaics and paper mache acrylic paintings in a folk-art style.  Using reclaimed materials is both a practical choice and a philosophical one.  It reflects a belief that beauty and meaning can be found in what is often thrown away.
