Janice Hartwell

Bellingham artist Janice Hartwell creates functional and decorative items made from found, recycled, or remnant materials. Janice combines varied textures with unusual and exciting color combinations to create unique works of art. She enjoys repurposing items and materials into one-of-a-kind works without the use of patterns.

Janice’s process includes felting, crocheting, making beads from paper and clay, twisting, and painting. She uses a wide variety of fabric, fibers, paper, clay, and found objects.  Unique shapes and bold color combinations both inspire and define her work. Her work emphasizes a balance of color, shape, and weight to create beautiful functional and decorative items.
