Karen McCormick
I am an oil painter. My inspiration comes from the beauty and diversity of the Great Northwest. Landscapes are my favorite subject, but I also enjoy painting animals and still life’s.
My painting style is realistic. I use an “Old Master’s Technique” that begins with a tinted canvas and uses glazes of transparent paint to give more depth to the final painting.
I mostly use my own photos for a source, but not for a photo-realistic result. I often modify colors and objects to make a more pleasing composition.
I’m delighted when viewers are reminded of a place they’ve been or imagine a place they’d like to visit.
